Thanks Everyone! :) @Lunar Eclipse I got the inspiration a while back: http://www.sketchport.com/drawing/1302144/sponge-inspired But when I played around with it in color, the texture reminded me of Conte-crayon on rough paper. I tried to emulate that, although the end result reminds me of printmaking instead.
As for the technique, you could keep criss-crossing the lines, however after a while it gets very slow and then you'll want to start a new stroke.
